History

1990

The Center of Organic Agriculture in Egypt (COAE) is founded firstly in 1990 as a non-profit organization (NGO), its objective was the establishment of biodynamic standards for the Egyptian growers, their training and consultation in applying its standards and make inspection to ensure the adherence to the regulations under supervision of Institute of Market Ecology (IMO) Switzerland. 

1992

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture named the COAE as the private inspection body, responsible for inspection and certification of organic products according to EU-Regulations.

1999

COAE has the accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17065(ISO 65).

2014

Re-Accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17065with the extension of COAE-Scope to cover the EUREPGAP-Regulations of Fresh Produce 'Vegetables and Fruits'.






2016

In the beginning of the year 2016 COAE according to the political and economic situation in Egypt decided to Decrease its certification Scope and canceling Organic Standards.



2018

COAE according to the economic situation in Egypt decided that it is scope of Certification will be DEMETER only


2021

COAE start to initiate its local scope, Participatory Guarantee System for Demeter and Carbon credit.

1996

COAE re-established as a limited liability company in the Company Department of the Ministry of Economy and International Cooperation (see QM-01 No 2. COAE Objectives).

2000

Extension of COAE-Scope to cover the International Demeter Standards for Production and the International Demeter of Processing Standards.

2015

Accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17065to modify the COAE-Scope to cover the new Global GAP standards Version 3.0-Sept_07 instead of the old version of EUREPGAP-Regulations.

2017

COAE according to the political and economic situation in Egypt decided to Decrease its certification Scope and canceling the EUREPGAP Regulations and GOTS Standards.


2020

COAE Modify its scope of work to cover new Economic of Love Standard and Demeter international standards.

2022

COAE joined to HU-COA center with its structure and staff, COAE accredit for ISO/IEC 17065 (Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services) ISO/IEC 14065:2020 (the verification and validation of greenhouse gas) BS EN ISO 14064-3:2019 (Greenhouse gases Part 3: Specification with guidance for the verification and validation of greenhouse gas statements) and introduce carbon credit certificate.

2022

COAE Management system is accredited according to BS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012, ISO 14065:2020  (VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION OF GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS ), the requirements of Biodynamic Federation Demeter International and in process to accredited in regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018.
